I love travel, but I don’t do it enough.
This past year Alicia and I promised to each other that we would find a way to travel more often. Sometimes that has meant just scheduling the time off and finding a way to afford it later. Other times it has meant meticulously planning out inexpensive trips to stay on couches with friends. We’ve proved to ourselves that it is possible to travel without much money and have fun without going overseas.
We’ve managed to take five road trips in as many months, starting with NYC in early December. Every time I visit New York I’m amazed how close it feels to Rochester and I wonder why I haven’t been there more often.
Traveling also throws fuel on my creative fire, giving me reason to assemble my DSLR, clear out my camera roll, grab extra batteries and set out with my tripod. I love having a reason to try to capture beautiful images, and traveling gives me something new to photograph as well as fresh perspective when I return home. We’ll see where the next adventure brings us.
Hopefully it’s not too far away!
